• Process

The following description of how I work is designed to help you, as a potential client, understand how your logo/trademark will take shape.

    Design brief

A design brief is a series of specific questions I provide you at the beginning of each project. I will work on the answer with you so that I, as your designer, can understand your goals and focus on the details of your branding needs. Done well, this collaborative effort will help me work more quickly (reducing your cost), while delivering a project that appeals to your target audience and tells them about why your business is special.

    R&B: Research and Brainstorming

After reviewing your information, I work with you on a research and brainstorming session. I take into account current trends in the market, business history, client competition and history, and the goal you have given me.

    Sketching

I start every project by sketching. This is where imagination takes shape (no pun intended). the computer and its applications are merely a tool for a graphic designer. Sketching helps generate a strong set of possible directions without the hindrance of a computer and mouse.

    Design development

I normally develop my designs until I have created two strong concepts. From here, I use programs such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to finalize the two design options. Finally, I'll prepare the file in Acrobat for PDF presentation to you.

    Presentation/feedback

I provide you with a PDF presentation showing the design options. you will have the opportunity to review the designs and provide feedback. For context purposes, I create and the PDF includes digital mock-ups of the design options incorporated onto stationery materials such as business cards, letterhead, signs, and other placements. This allows you to better visualize your new logo/trademark.

    Final details

Once you have reviewed the designs, I either finalize the chosen design or make revisions based on your feedback. This process is flexible—while I strive to deliver initial versions that are "ready to go" I know that you are the one intimately involved in your company. We can go back and forth to get the result you want. I will work with you to ensure that the final project reflects the best option for your business for years to come.
